I was born and raised in Connecticut.
About 40 years ago I moved to San Francisco and in 1996 I became a docent at the San Francisco Zoo.
I was always taking pictures of the animals. I'd like to believe that many of the large animals at least recognized me and maybe considered me a friend.
In 1999 I wandered into an animal illustration art class and became hooked on drawing animals. I usually work from one of those many pictures I take.
Our zoo animals are so beautiful and nobel. So many of them are now endangered species and may someday only survive in zoos and animal parks.
In 2001 we moved to Lake County and I have had more free time to draw. I draw and paint in many different mediums and I also now paint many subjects besides animals.
I hope you enjoy my pictures as much as I have enjoyed painting them and knowing many of my subjects.
I am a member of the Lake County Arts Council, the Konocti Plein Air Painters and the Artists of the Lake.
